Two songs by George Sabanis in the new album of Nikos Oikonomopoulos "Ennoeitai"

In his new album “Ennoeitai” (EMI, Greece, 2012),  Nikos Oikonomopoulos continued his cooperation with the talented young composer George Sabanis, which has began a year earlier and has brought to the previous four times platinum album of the most talented laiko singer of a new generation two masterpieces, written on the words by Eleni Giannatsoulia, a fabulous poet- lyricist.

This time Sabanis  took for his compositions the lyrics by two other big masters of the song genre: Niki Papateochari and Nikos Gritsis.
Both of these tracks were immediately appreciated by the public, especially after the first live performances.

“Melancholia mou” (My melancholy) , from the very beginning charms you with its unusual instrumental intro. This zeibekiko is written with the transparent polyphonic texture of the most modern sound. The impressive melody begins unusually low to ascend to the top.
In the words emerged from the pen of Niki Papatheochari, there is a subtly described portrait of a young man, firm in his preference to be alone than to squander his feelings in a void.
This complex psychological task is solved by Nikos Oikonomopoulos with palette of his amazing voice, capable of transmitting any movement of the human soul.

Proof of this is the second song by George Sabanis, included in the album: “Trypa stin kardia” (A hole in the heart), on the  words written by the popular lyricist Nikos Gritsis.
This rock ballad is contrasting to the previously observed composition. It’s hero openly expresses  feelings of pain and despair, being grasped by them.
Obviously, these  two songs have something in common, for example it is a great coverage of the vocal range of a singer. But in the second one  both the low and high notes sound with a touch of metal in Nikos’ voice, which corresponds exactly to the style of the music and meaning of words.

There is no doubts, these tracks are the gems of the new album of Nikos Oikonomopoulos and of his repertoire in general. Their live performances occurs with great enthusiasm of the Nightclub “ Fever” audience , where Nikos sings with with Stamatis Gonidis and Katerina Stikoudi this  winter season.

No need to be a prophet to say that both of these songs are going to be the hits for a long time.

Nikos Oikonomopoulos: My passion to the song is obvious - Ennoeitai!

The famous singer was talking to the TV Magazine “Tiletheatis” on the occasion of the release of his new album “Ennoeitai” Nikos Oikonomopoulos (Νίκος Οικονομόπουλος) spoke about his new CD with love, describing it as one of the most comprehensive works he has ever done. “Ennoeitai” is versatile, because we found very nice songs for it and because I like to connect my thoughts with the thoughts of others. Each new album is a collection of experiences from which you learn. " When being asked "if it feels heavy load for everybody waiting that long for a moment of success," he replied: "These are the rules of the game in our work. When you exist in show business and want to be a star naturally there should be expectations” Regarding the "strong" partnerships he had so far in his career, such as with Giannis Parios, Stamatis Gonidis and Despina Vandi, he said: "The truth is that I was fortunate in my collaborations. Each of these was a happy period in my life. " Finally, he commented about his "moderate relationship with the media», saying that "there is no any special communication tactics in that ... Just to show up unnecessarily and talk about this and about that needlessly, is not for me..."

"Ennoeitai": Love brings suffering and elevates the soul . Review of the new CD album by Nikos Oikonomopoulos

The new album by Nikos Oikonomopoulos “Εννοείται” (EMI, Greece, 2012) has attracted attention of listeners long before the release. Two its pilot singles (Εννοείται and  Ώρα να πηγαίνω) have become leaders of the radio hit parades.

Now the audience is invited to listen to all the 14 tracks, recorded by one of the best voices of our time

Let us do a cursory review of the songs according to their authorship.

Panos Kapiris, a prominent composer,  wrote 3 tracks for the album, two of which Εννοείται and  Ώρα να πηγαίνω  with the verses by Eleni Giannatsoulia  already are the top hits.  The third one, Εγω ο δυνατος, is a traditional zeibekiko with perfectly shaped melody and expressive lyrics by Niki Spiropoulou.

George Sabanis contributed 2 songs to the CD: Μελαγχολία μου (a contemporary zeibekiko -ballad) with the soul penetrating lyrics by Niki Papatheochari and a dramatic rock ballad Τρυπα Στην Καρδια on the words by Nikos Gritsis.

Three compositions came from the pen of the new author, Lemonis Skopelitis: these are two sad and beautiful ballads  -   Πόσο να πονεσω  and  Τι θυμασαι  (words written together with Fontas Theodorou) and tsifteteli - inspired  Με ποιο δικαιωμα.

Nikos Doulamis is a new collaboration for Nikos Oikonomopoulos. This songwriter has brought to the CD  two his compositions : a folk rock ballad Αυτό το σώμα (written together with Kristian  Doulamis) and a modern zeibekiko  Στασου.

The partnership with Christodoulos Siganos and Valentino, which started in the previous CD, is represented in the new album with 2 dancing tracks : Ησυχία and  Ki αφου χωρισαμε (with one more composer, Konstantinos Pantzis,  involved) - the last composition is an unusual mix of the Macedonian (northen Greek) ethnic music and latina.

Ethnic features also go very prominent in the jazzy fusion, which is the song by Giannis Ieremias (music) and Nektarios Tirakis (words) :  Ο καλύτερος εχθρός μου.

Dimitris Paraskevopoulos gave to Nikos his broken heart ballad Πως αλλάζουν οι καρδιές  which is placed in the CD under the number 14, the lucky number for this composer, as the same position had his legendary hit in the last year album of Nikos Oikonomopoulos (four times platinum CD Θα είμαι εδώ) .

Despite the variety of authors and genres, the songs in the album form a single cycle. They are united not only by the rich with all sorts of shades voice of the singer, but also by a variety of musical and poetic connections. Perhaps the key here lies in the theme of the selected songs. They tell us about the difficult and, even,  unrequited love, loneliness and how the man courageously goes his way of self-knowledge through the suffering. Thus, this cycle of songs, which, according to what Nikos Oikonomopoulos said, has got a part of his soul, shows him maturing as a person and as a musician.

The album Εννοείται  is a valuable contribution to the treasury of the Greek laika song.

Nikos Oikonomopoulos broadcast on the radio Sfera 102, 2.

This year radio Sfera 102,2 arranged for admirers of Nikos Oikonomopoulos  a nice surprise, thanks to a specially equipped studio in The Mall Athens.  Sitting behind the transparent wall, his fans could experience firsthand how their favorite singer turned into a charismatic radio presenter.
After promising Natalia Germanou and Valentino that he is not going to “eat” their  job in the time of crisis, and that all the money earned from the broadcast he will return, Nikos took up his duties.
He immediately confessed that he loves radio more than television, where he feels uncomfortable. In addition, he said that radio provides more accurate assessment of the artist, it attracts attention to the beauty of the voice. “A beautiful voice works here as an invitation to hear more of the singer you liked”.

Nikos defined his task as showing to the audience (especially young listeners)  the songs that are rarely heard on the radio, but deserve much more airtime. He believes that there is a flood of good songs and singers who are not played often.
First he put the track “Η στιγμές που μου πήρες”  by Stamatis Gonidis with whom he collaborates in the club Fever and who, as Nikos said, has got a unique aura.
The next song was a tribute to the late Dimitris Mitropanos - the song “Άκου”, which Nikos sings regularly at his concerts.
Of course, the improvised broadcaster did not miss the opportunity to show his favorite song “Λυπήσου με” from the repertoire of Giannis Parios, whom Nikos worships.
Another big artist Nikos wanted to present was Nikos Poulopoulos with his song  “Αγάπα με” - the young singer said, he believes in the near future to collaborate on stage with this master of the laika song.
At the end of the programme, before to wave goodbye and say one more time his Christmas wishes to the public, Nikos put on air the track by Kostas Makedonas “Μη μου λες Αντίο” - the song Nikos sang in Komotini 8 years ago.

Thus the popular young singer presented to his huge radio audience several gems of Greek song Laika.

The flower battle at the premiere of Economopoulos - Gonidis!

Nikos Economopoulos lived through an unusual "battle" since his fans literally bombarded him with the flower petals at the Fever nightclub premiere, where he performs with Stamatis Gonidis and Katerina Stikoudi!

What was the result?  The "rain" of the flowers from his fans felt down at his feet!

Nikos Economopoulos greeted warmly patrons of Fever welcoming them to the show that promises much fun and songs!

The flower battle continued throughout the night, but the singer did not seem daunted!
Quite opposite: he dedicated his success to the public who came to the show!

All night long girls of the club, dressed in red, never stopped sprinkle Nikos Economopoulos with petals!

For Stamatis Gonidis of this was a special premiere as it brought him back to the night club scene after 2 years break!
What could be more explosive than the  duet of sexy-dressed Katerina Stikoudi and Stamatis Gonidis?

Katerina has a lot to learn next to a veteran of the night scene, such as Stamatis Gonidis, so she was

looking at the singer with adoration!
