Nikos Oikonomopoulos (Νίκος Οικονομόπουλος)  is the brightest new star of Greek music. Through his magnificent voice and irresistible charm, Nikos has earned the love of the widest range of his own country’s public . He burst onto the music scene by winning in the “Dream Show-2” (Alfa-TV) in 2006, at the age of 22. As a result, Nikos was signed under the Sony label where he recorded three very popular albums, the last of which went platinum in the short time of four months from the date of release. At the end of 2010, when the contract with Sony expired, Nikos moved to Minos EMI. The first album released under this label, “Doro Gia Sena” , went Triple Platinum within the period of five months. The album "Tha Eimai Edo" by an outstanding Greek singer Nikos Economopoulos   went multi -platinum! To be more exact, this CD, released at the very end of 2011 by EMI ( Greece ) became platinum four times.   A unique collection of songs, many of which are pure pearls to add to the treasury of the Greek song "laika", received high recognition from the audience for the biggest part due the tremendously beautiful voice and a huge musical talent of this artist. Nikos Economopoulos admits that often cries and, during a personal confession, talks about his weaknesses, dreams, women and a desirable fatherhood! "If a man does not cry, it is not a man. Στη σύγχρονη μουσική δεν υπάρχουν τόσες πολλές πραγματικά όμορφες φωνές, που να αξίζει να τις αναφέρουμε . Εξάλλου, μπορούμε να κρίνουμε έναν τραγουδιστή ως επί το πλείστον από τις ζωντανές εμφανίσεις του. Έτσι, η σύγκριση και η διαφορά πρέπει να βασίζεται μόνο σε αυτές. Συναντώ συχνά το φαινόμενο, άπειροι ακροατές να συγκρίνουν τον Νίκο Οικονομόπουλο με οποιονδήποτε. In modern popular music there are not that many of truly beautiful, worthy of debate voices. Besides, we can judge singer mostly on their live performances. So, the dispute should be based only on them. I often deal with the fact that inexperienced listeners compare Nikos Economopoulos with whoever. But, let me say, ladies and gentlemen, there are several things to be determined.  First: Nikos sings very accurately, as they say - always in tune, the quality I would like to wish all those who for some reason are compared to him. Second: The sound of his voice has an exceptional beauty and richness of the tone across the range. Third: What is given to him is not given to the most of singers. I mean his  rare ability to convey the content of the song, that’s why his singing is a delight for people who do not speak Greek. Last weekend a prominent Greek laiko singer Stamatis Gonidis visited Athens' popular nightclub THEA, where he enjoyed a performance of Nikos Economopoulos. The friendship between these two singers lasts since the very first steps of Nikos on the big stage. Stamatis Gonidis started supporting Nikos Economopoulos as early as in 2006, when he approved the young and unknown yet participant and winner –to –be of the “Dream Show -2”. Later they had collaboration on stage and even recorded a duet for the Nikos ‘triple platinum album “Doro Gia Sena”. The track “I agapi einai tragoudi” (“Love is the song”) became one of the big successes of the album.
